A leading expert in the field, Reilly will present physically and financially feasible environmental control strategies to help institutions preserve collections materials for the long-term.

After a short introduction to essential concepts describing the relationships among temperature, relative humidity and collection preservation, attendees will learn how to read and interpret data from PEM2s* and other dataloggers; how to use eClimate Notebook**; and how to practically apply that knowledge – to optimize conditions to maximize service lives of collections, and to minimize energy consumption by heating, ventilating, and cooling (HVAC) systems while achieving satisfactory environmental conditions.

Topics covered will include:

Ø  The Collections Environment

Ø  Understanding the Building/Climate Relationship

Ø  Environmental Monitoring and Data Analysis

Ø  New Approaches and Best Practices for Environmental Control
